The event will be held at the Ewers Century Center, College of Central Florida (3001 S.W. College Road, Ocala). Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the program and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. Seats are limited and reservations are required.

His research focuses on the molecular and environmental factors that permit breast cancer cells to survive neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The research views cancer as an evolving disease. Just as living organisms adapt to survive challenging environments, cancer cells can change and develop resistance to treatment. We believe that administering immunotherapy immediately after chemotherapy may be far more effective, helping to reduce recurrence, lessen the overall treatment burden, and improve both survival outcomes and quality of life for patients with breast cancer.

Her research focuses on tumor ploidy as a predictive biomarker of differential chemotherapy response. Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) can behave very differently from one person to another, and tumors that appear similar under the microscope may respond very differently to the same chemotherapy. Our research is investigating whether ploidy, the amount of DNA or chromosome content within cancer cells, can help predict which treatments are most effective. If successful, this approach could personalize chemotherapy selection, improve outcomes, and reduce unnecessary side effects from ineffective treatments.
