The College of Central Florida Foundation has received a $250,000 grant from the Citrus County Community Charitable Foundation to help launch a Respiratory Therapy degree program at the 91��Ƭ Citrus Campus. The 76-credit hour Associate in Science degree program is projected to start in the 2022-2023 academic year and includes coursework and clinical experiences.

“College of Central Florida is extremely grateful for the generous support of the Citrus County Community Charitable Foundation as we establish new high-demand workforce programs that address the health care needs of the communities we serve,” said Dr. Jim Henningsen, president of the College of Central Florida.

The artworks consist of screen printing on atypical materials, along with encaustic painting, and objects cast in glass, aluminum and iron.

There is no charge to view the exhibition at the Webber Gallery, 3001 S.W. College Road, Ocala. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Goloborotko is a multidisciplinary artist and master printmaker who engages in a relentless auto-ethnographic examination of contemporaneous issues as a form of resistance and poetic activism. Utilizing symbols of intransience, impermanence and stasis, Goloborotko makes works that are changeable, shifting, active and unsettled. This exhibit questions the status of the environment and political structures, among other things, as the artist asks us to, “Wander around the sculptures and the prints. Take a well-deserved pause, and ask yourself, honestly, where do you find yourself right now?”

Goloborotko has exhibited installations, works on paper, sculpture, videos and interactive projects in more than 200 exhibitions in museums and galleries on four continents, and yet has remained firmly committed to community. Her printshops in Jacksonville and Sherman, Pennsylvania, are print and poetic activism sites, empowering first-time printmakers with hands-on workshops and developing the visions of mid-career artists with portfolio production and instruction.

Accepted throughout the month of June 2021, the Appleton received 630 mobile photos across four categories: Adventure, Black and White, Horse and Hound, and My Hero. Photos were submitted by participants of all ages using a variety of mobile devices, such as phones and tablets.

“This year we received a record-high number of entries, and as always, we are so wowed by the community’s creativity and thoughtfulness when responding to the category themes,” said Victoria Billig, assistant director of the Appleton Museum who also created the community program. “We hope you’ll visit the museum to see this beautiful display of mobile photographs.”

All 630 photos are on view at the museum through Oct. 3, with a special feature wall for the winning photos. The winning photos were selected by Tino Grana, photographer and owner of Art Addiction LLC. Grana had the challenging job of choosing only two photos from each category that best responded to each prompt. Regular museum admission fees apply to see the exhibition. Visitors can also enjoy free admission on Aug. 7, Sept. 4 and Oct. 2 as part of Free First Saturdays.
